  • Do you do physical classes?

    WhiteHat Jr is a live online 1:1 Platform and doesn’t do physical classes. We want our teachers to maximize their earnings while having the convenience to choose their schedule, both of which are made possible by the Internet.

  • How many students do I teach in each class?

    All WhiteHat Jr classes are one-on-one to ensure we meet 100% of each student’s needs. We don’t have any group classes.

  • I have no prior coding or computer science experience. Can I apply to WhiteHat?

    Yes! Post selection, WhiteHat invests in teaching you the skills required for conducting coding classes for ages 5-12—logic, sequence, algorithmic thinking and creative expression. Any college graduate with sound logic skills can apply. Comfort with using computers and technology is a mandatory though since classes are conducted online.

  • Do you license your curriculum to schools?

    Please email us at info@whitehatjr.com with your specific needs. We’re very selective about licensing since we carefully select only the Top 0.1% of teachers to deliver the curriculum.

  • How did you develop your curriculum?

    Our curriculum has been created by computer scientists from top educational institutes like MIT and IIT after significant research in computer pedagogy and kid engagement.

  • Do you do coding classes for higher grades?

    WhiteHat the fundamental structure of coding—logic, sequence, structure, and algorithmic thinking. For kids in higher grades who want to build the foundation, we recommend taking the Advanced Course.

    • When will I receive my Early Childhood Coding Expert Certification?

      Congratulations! You’re in the Top 0.1% of Teachers who’ve been qualified on the WhiteHat Platform. Your next steps are as follows:

      1. 1: Complete Background & Tech Check: 3 Days

    • How long is every class?

      Each class is designed for 25 minutes. In the beginning, as students get comfortable with the Interface and Technology, we expect classes to go longer. Hence, we’ve kept a 1-hour window for every class. Soon, as kids enter the 2nd month, class windows will be compressed to 30 minutes, enabling teachers to book more students and increase their earnings even more.

    • How does scheduling work?

      Teachers must enter their monthly availability before 25th of the Month . Students are allocated to teachers according to teacher availability. Teachers’ weekly schedules are sent out each Sunday at 8 p.m. Teachers can be booked for classes during the week, no less than 24 hours in advance. WhiteHat Jr highly encourages all teachers to check their emails and their schedule in the system daily.

    • What hours should teachers be available to teach?

      In order to maximize your earnings, we recommend you be available Monday to Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Weekends all day, our peak student times.

    • Do I need to prepare teaching materials?

      WhiteHat’s curriculum creators have already designed detailed materials for every class. However, teachers must prepare for class by reviewing the class beforehand and doing the activities in every link. Teachers must preview class materials in the classroom on the teacher portal 6-12 hours in advance.

    • Do teachers need to communicate with parents?

      No, WhiteHat office staff will communicate with parents. Post every class, remember to press the END CLASS button so our communication can be initiated

    • Do teachers always teach the same students?

      No, teachers can teach any student who books their class.

    • Do classes take place on Skype or
      another platform?

      WhiteHat uses a custom video platform, similar to Skype, which offers several unique advantages for online teaching.

    • Is there a maximum number of classes a teacher could teach?

      WhiteHat sets no limit on how many classes a teacher can take. However we assign a level to the teacher--Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced--depending on interview performance, student availability etc. so that teachers can build expertise in one level.

  • Interruptions & No Shows
    • My student hasn’t shown up to class. What should I do?

      Please wait for 5 minutes. Immediately after that, please call the WhiteHat call center at XXXX. The call centre will inform you about the status of the class. In case the student has canceled at the last minute or is more than 15 minutes late, you’ll be paid for the class even though there’s no actual class that takes place.

    • Our class got interrupted because of poor Internet. What should I do?

      Please try to connect to the class again by pressing the RECONNECT button on your panel. If you can’t connect, please call the call-center. The Call Center will verify Internet speeds. If the Internet got disconnected from the teacher’s side, the teacher will not be paid for the class. If the Internet got disconnected from the student side, the teacher will be paid for the class as usual. In both cases, the class will be rescheduled.

    • I have an emergency and cannot take
      the class?

      WhiteHat values commitment and punctuality deeply. Even so, we understand that mitigating personal circumstances can occur from time to time. If you communicate before 24 hours, we’ll reschedule your class to another teacher. You’ll forgo your class earning but there’ll be no additional penalty. For less than 24 hours rescheduling, you’ll forgo your class earnings and also be charged a 1-class penalty. If you’re a no-show two times, we’ll have to regretfully remove you from the platform.

  • Payments
    • What is my payment?

      As an independent contractor, your payment or is calculated on a per-class basis (scheduled in 60-minute slots in the beginning) and is composed of a minimum pay of Rs. 350 + incentives. You’ll earn incentives by your monthly class participation as a WhiteHat teacher and through referrals of students and teachers

      Minimum Pay Rs. 350 Your minimum pay post selection per successful class.
      On Time Incentive Rs. 25 This is for showing up on class on time and not canceling for a whole month and will be added to your pay for the 2nd month.
      Usage Rs 2500/5000 80 Classes / 100 Classes per Month. This is a monthly bonus for completing 80/100 classes on the platform
      Student Referral Rs. 1000 per referral For referring a student who pays for a month after the trial class
      Teacher Referral Rs. 1000 per referral For referring a teacher who completes at-least 50 classes on the platform
    • How much tax do I have to pay?

      WhiteHat teachers are independent contractors and responsible for their own taxes in accordance with their individual tax jurisdictions or country laws

    • When and how will teachers be paid?

      Teachers are paid through direct bank deposits every 30 days.

    • How long is the contract? Can teachers take breaks during the contract?

      WhiteHat Jr signs 3-month contracts with applicants who pass their screening process. Please inform WhiteHat 2 weeks in advance if you want to take time off during your contract.
